Hello Lance Community,

Who would like to help me put together a first ever reunion of former Lance officers and enlisted soldiers in the San Antonio or Fort Sill area this year or next year. San Antonio is mentioned mainly for the lodging at local military bases and attractions for families at sea world and other places that could accommodate and support a reunion.

Fort Sill is great as the home of many of our careers as Rocket Artillery Soldiers, Hooah”. It is heart felt that our contribution towards ending the cold war be recognized. While re-establishing old and current friendships.

Many of you have expressed a need for such a reunion so that our children and others will learn about the awesome work we did while working in the cold in Germany, Italy, Holland, Crete, England, and on the ranges at Fort Sill and other places.

If this venture may interest you, please email or call me at jwilli9014@aol.com or 210-670-2008.

Nice hearing from you Lamphere its been a long time. Yes, I agree with you! Im in touch with about 12 or more former Lance guys and they are all saying the same thing. Right now, I need everyone who want to see this happen to send me any contact info of anyone that they may know who served in lance. Including what their needs are, and would they come if we set a date at Fort Sill. I am planning to contact everyone that I know in Lawton for there support to make this happen this time for sure!

We are like the band of brothers!

Sadly, I was in Hania for a TDY last summer. There is no longer a bar outside of the old Greek Kasserne. It is now a BP station. I tried to find the old Pops place but it seems to disappeared also. NATO still has a presence on the island but it is really a shadow of the old days.... If we do get a reunion together i will bring some Raki...

Bennett, have you seen anyone from the 12th USAFAD.
I ran across Cozad,Copp,Herd,Castro, while I was passing through Fort Sill visiting.

Im still in touch with about four Italian famlies in the Oderzo area. Including a few guys I knew from the 1/333 F.A.Camp Pieri, Wiesbaden Germany.

I would be more than happy to attend a Lance reunion. I retired this past summer and after 22+ yrs, I can honestly say my time with 3-79th FA at the Zoo in Giessen were by far the most fun. My old FDC chief works on post and I know where a couple other old-timers are. If we're going to do this, we need to fill a pool now and let nature take its course so that we can replicate the fire ponds at NAMFI.

I am 5-6 hours from Lawton in San Antonio, I live a rocks throw from Sea World in a 4brm 2300sq house. Hey do you remember SSG Spruell. He and his former wife live in Kansas City Missour, he works for the Mail system as a driver.

Im going to try to put together a mailing list and refer anyone that I know back to this web site for information. Web master thanks for creating this message boad.

Thanks Travis,
Im hoping to make a trip to Lawton in March during spring break or afterwards to meet with some people about the reunion.

I think this time its going to happen if we can set up a advisory team.
I hope to see ya and the others when I visit Lawton.

I was with 3/79th B-Btry from 86-88, "The Zoo", Giessen W.Germany. I might be interested in such an event. Currently live about 30 minutes east of Sill.

Good to see another Hardcharger on this site. Paul: when did you get to B/3-79th? I left in Jul 86 after serving as a Plt Ldr in C Btry then moving to Bravo as the XO. I'm retired and working on post. Just bought a house on the east side of town in Pebble Creek.

I got to Rivers I think it was end of April 86? Sheffield was acting First Sergeant, but I cannot remember who the BC was at the time.

I was in second fire with Sheffield, Sulser, Fore, Magino, Renniger. Think Cekay was out plt. leader initially. Of course that all changed and people got moved. I stayed with 2nd Fire though for the two years I was over there.

I know where Pebble Creek is. We lived in Lawton for 10 years after I got out. Been in OKC and Norman since. I was working out at TinkerAFB up until just 4 months ago. Here in Duncan now.

CSM William E. High was my first line Supervisor in the 75th USAFAD (294TH USAAG)Flensburg, Germany back in the late 1980s... I remember him getting promoted to SSG...the only surprize to me is that they haven't made him SMA High. Was a great leader then... no doubt a great leader now. Lance brings back some great memories... I just retired as an MP... another good job in the Army...

I would bevey intrested in a reunion if given enough advance notice. I think the only place to hav this is at Ft. Sill, after all, we all have ties to Ft. Sill. I think we should try this every 3-5 years? Iwoukd like to show my 3 year old boy some of the ole Army hardware that he is sure to hear about down through the years. Take care all. Well I know the Sheffield PCS'd back to Sill in 87 and was still there when I did the same in 88. Talked to him a couple times but then lost touch. No idea where he would be now. Got a couple pics of him though in a scrap book, which required being more sneaky than him, and quick. :-)
He had a major aversion to having his picture taken.

As an unofficial event, might be able to get some support from a local VFW, American Legion, or other service orginization for nothing more than giving them some recognition for assisting with the event. I am retired in the Fort Leonard Wood area and would love to come out to Fort sill for a Reunion... unless someone with a lot of pull could set it up at the time of an ADA missile test down at White Sands... then we could all celebrate while watching a Lance vapor trail!... from a distance of course... as they attempt to shoot it down....

Here is an email I recieved yesterday, some you you probably got it also. The reply address for it it lancereunion@yahoo.com.

To All Lance Missile Crewmembers and Friends of the Lance Community:

A group of old (well maybe not so old) Lance people are trying to organize a reunion for the Lance Community at Fort Sill, OK during the Fourth of July weekend, specifically 1-2 July 2006. If you can help spread the word to your Lance friends not listed in the email addresses, we would appreciate it.

Anyone who is interested in attending, please reply to this email and let us know who will attend. If you could provide the following information, it will help us build a database for future events.

NAME/MAILING ADDRESS/EMAIL ADDRESS/LANCE UNIT YOU WERE ASSIGNED TO/YEARS ASSIGNED THERE

We are still in the planning stages but are trying to secure the Banquet Hall at Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area for a dinner on 1 July from 1800-2100. Costs are still in the air until we get an estimate on how many people can attend. We will keep all costs to a minimum. Also, a picnic (bring your own lunch) is tentatively scheduled for Ambrosia Springs on 2 July, around 1300-1700.

Let us know if you're interested in purchasing a T-Shirt with the Lance emblem to honor the reunion. Again, costs are not final but will probably run between $10.00-$15.00. Sales will help cover logistical costs of the reunion.

If you run a business and would like to help sponsor the event, let us know that, too! We'd be happy to have event sponsors and could possibly put logos on the T-shirts.

Also, if you're in the Lawton/Fort Sill area and would like to help with the planning, we will have a meeting on Memorial Day weekend, time and location to be announced later.

Please use this email account for all correspondence relating to the reunion.

Thanks for your interest and support. We look forward to seeing all of you at this great even!!!

Sincerely,

John Williams
Event Coordinator

Event Secretary/Treasurer
