Fond memories indeed...
I was station at Camp Pieri from the latter part of 1974 until March of 1976. These were very good times and interesting people not to mention a few of the last Vietnam era guys and the beginning of the all volunteer army. I was 15J20 FDC and went to Crete twice to make Lance training films for S2.

I was in A 1/333 at Pieri, and flipped down to Crete twice. Was at Service 6/33 at Sill with two flips to WSMR. I was in from 1981-1984. ANyone remember 'The Boot'?

Oh yeah, that'd be LTC Yarger. Quite a tough old dude.

Actually, I was thinking of LTC Wolf--the guy with the orthopedic combat boot. (He lost part of it in 'Nam). I remeber Yarger, too. though. And, boy--did he love to run in those vineyards. About half a mile vertical for each mile horizontal.

The boot that was a running fool, he ran the battalion all over the area. But I miss those days looking back. Those soldiers in the 1/333 F.A had to be the best any where.

Anybody know where Lloyd Morgan ended up? He was in A 1/333 at Pieri in '83, and the last I had heard (1986 or so) was a SSG at Sill.

Oh yes how can anyone forget the Col Yarger aka DA Boot. Man those runs were killer. But the worst was when we ran in reverse on Fridays. Hell we lost 90% of the Battalion on that day. Heck I was the NCO in charge of the remedial PT everyday. I was at Camp Pieri from 1979 to 1982 Sgt Howell I ended up in S-2 but started in Battalion FDC. SFC McClain aka the scrounger was the Section Chief while I was in FDC. Anyone remember Sgt Englehart (Mark Englehart) I think he was either in A or B Battery can’t remember for sure. What about SSG Dawes? Anyway anyone remember me drop me a line. Take care,

Robert Howell

You want to thi nk of COl Yarger? Had him as a freash capt and by Btry BC in Giessen in the 70s. I remember when he first started out and the runs would cause him great pain. He never quit, never stopped, never complaned. Igt was because of men like him and my 1sgt woessner that made me stay. God bless all.
