Anybody here serve in Korea. I was there from '88 to '89. Then went on to Fort Sill and worked for USAFATC.
I was there from April 1991 to February 1992. After President Bush decided to get rid of the Lance Missile we fired them into the yellow sea in November. It's been over ten years since that cold February day when every 13N left on that bus for Kimpo Airfield in Seoul. I had CQ on that last night in Uijongbu. On the CQ table they had a box filled up with photos of B 6/32 from the first months the Lance missile was in Korea. I sure wish I would have took them.

When I first got to Korea, we were stationed at Camp Mercer (Shit Hole!!)right outside of Kimpo. After a few months we moved to Camp Stanley, brand new motor pool, new air conditioned barracks with private baths. What the life!!! Too bad then we were in the field too much to enjoy them. I have scanned in a few of my photos here: http://www.compuplus.net/~lance/

Great Pics Todd. It's been so long since I've seen different pics of the Lance.

I went over with the 1st deployment in Feb. '87. It was a "cluster #$%^%". The only good thing was that all the Officers and Senior NCO's had to live in these apts right out side the gate. There was some serious partying ALL the time. I was the FDC Chief/HQ Platoon SGT. Our 1ST was Tillman (a real shithead) our BC was CPT Blank (he and the 1SG were a matching pair).
Onyonghosayo, or however the hell you say hello in Korean. I went over with the first unit in '87 stayed until '89 about 2 months after the 3rd unit arrived. When the second group arrived, I became the BC's driver, because I had been there a year and had learned how do drive like the Koreans. "Who ever has the bigger balls wins." I hung out with Kidger, later my best man, and when I left Camp Mercer I recommended him for BC's driver, Easley, Ski, Edgar, and I can't remember the rest. Anyway look forward to hearing from you guys. By the way, Kidger is a nurse in New York, City, scarry ain't it!!!

Richard, Did 1SG Tillman come from Ft Sill? He tended to sniffle quite a bit? I think he was a 1SG at 6/33d for a while and then became the CSM at 4/12th in Germany... steve
Yea, he sniffed all the time, and had a tiny extra pinkey. He was a real good guy once you got to know him though. He was the 1sg of B6/33, 1987 in korea, and CSM of 4/27(MLRS) in Babenhausen, Ge. Don't what he did after that.
I think he was in A6/33d. I was in the HHB, S1 and he used to harass the holy hell out of us there. He came over to 4/12FA and continued his rampage as CSM. Even though, he was pretty squared away. I will give him that! Does anyone know what happened to him??

Yes I was stationed in Korea at the big base of Camp Mercer from 1988 to 1989. Cpt Bourque and 1SG Munoz were the leaders. We called it the Peurto Rican regime. I stayed in trouble with them. You might know me by my nickname of "KIMCHI".
Hi Ken Gove !!! Sorry, I can't remember you exactly. I was adminstration section with SGT Baik, the Korean- American GI, 1ST£Íunoz and BC Cpt Bourque. 1SG and BC was the PeurtoRican. They speak the spanish when something was reluctant to be known to us. The senior KATUSA was SGT LEE D.H. the my army chum, at that time. I miss SP4 GRATT the BC Driver who lived next to my room in the barracks. It is amazing to contact old army fellow via Internet and I also hope to touch with our old LANCE KATUSA in soon. park sang Joon... |
