Hey Sam, I was stationed with you at Codogne'. I remember Markum and Bennett and Jonesy, Bremmer, Paris. Do you remember SSG Kupietz? I retired in Feb 2000 and I also taught JROTC for about a year and a half until I got the call from the Postal Service. I am now a City Mail Carrier and a part time supervisor. Believe me it is big bucks. Hope to hear from you......Ken

Ken,
Would you be the Drill Sgt that came to the unit in '91 or '92 time frame? I'm still a JROTC Instructor ...I really like it. The first semester is balls to the wall. After that it's go to go!
Wow..time really moves out!!

Sam,
I would be that same Drill Sgt that got there in Jul of 91. I used to play a lot of raquetball with Paris. I had enough of the JROTC by the end of the first year. I got stuck with a retired Sgt Major as my SAI and he was one of the worse people I had to work with. He never had any kids so he didn't know how to deal with the cadets very well. He thought he was back in the army and treated them like trainees in basic training. He messed up the program and he and I got into it all the time. I finally got tired of dealing with him. He got fired the year after I left. I enjoy working for the Postal Service a lot better. I don't have to deal with too many stupid people. I retired in February of 2000 and after JROTC, never looked back or missed the army.

Ken, Yeah, now that, that is comfirmed, I remember you!! I retired in 2004. Spent my last 10 years as a recruiter. What a life (Yeah right) Any way, I got lucky, I work with two outstanding Instructors. We just got back from Fort Benning. We took 6 cadets there for a Civilian Marksmanship Program Air Rifle Camp. One of our cadets won the finals match on the last day. Very exciteing for everyone. They got to train at the USAMU indoor electroic firing range. Very high speed. Who was the other DS that arrived with you in '91.
Glad to know that you are doing well!!!

Hey Sam and Ken, long time no see. Y'all missed the reunion on the 1st and 2nd of July. It was a pretty good time. Franzwa and I were the only 12th Usafad guys there. I am soon to join you two in the retired ranks, I'll start clearing in about 7 days. Am gonna stay here in Lawton. If you are ever in town. Look me up.

Travis,
Good to hear from you. I didn't know about the reuniion. Was it in Lawton, Ft. Sill? Good luck in retirement. I really have enjoyed the time so far. The name "Franzwa" sounds familiar. Cant' quit picture him. That happens as the years roll on! (LOL)!! Do you remember Mike Browning (Former Site Algo, Codogne NCOIC) and Dave Wilson (NBC NCOIC). They were in Oderzo most of the time. Do you know where they are?

It was good to hear from you!

Hey Sam. The other Drill Sergeant that arrived with me was SSG Joe Kupietz. He was at Oderzo. Whe we shut down and came back to the states to get reclassified, he got sent to Fort Stewart. Didn't like the post but got on as an instructor for a while and got tired of the whole thing and got out of the Army. He now works for the Army Corps of Engineers in Wisconsin

Travis,
You are going to enjoy the retired life. Just don't think you are going to retire for good. First of all, it would be boring. Second of all, you can't live on army retirement alone. I play a lot of golf now but I work alot too.

Sam,
Do you remember that Kupietz and myself used to give Harper and McCollum hell about being recruiters? Well my last 5 years in the army were in recruiting. I retired as the Station Commander of the recruiting station in New Iberia, Louisiana. I am about an hour from where I was raised as a kid.
