today is sunday, 12 mar 06, and iwas sitting here doing some thinking. i was thinking about what if the lance missile system still existed in the u.s.army's arsenal? deveral questions came to mind at 1004 hours this morning.

1.) how would our missile have affected the balance of power in the world today if it still existed?

2.) the above question also applies to the pershing missile. isnt it true that even during training missions in germany the 15E's could not take it to firing elevation because the russians would think it was an act of war?

3.) did the world as a whole fear the capabilities of the lance? after all, im pretty sure that if we had a spare chinook or two we could put that LZL damn near anywhere.

4.) would the soviet union be so eager to assist Iran with its nuclear "energy" program if the lance missile was still in the U.S. Army's arsenal?

5.) if the lance missile is no longer a part of the arsenal, where exactly did the E-234 abcd and e go? what about the HE's?

6.) what countries,(if any),may still have the lance in their aresenals?

7.) what happened to all of the pershings, where did they end up?

8.) is is a possibility, however remote, that, based on the current global situation, lance or something very similar may have to resurrected?

9.) could it be a violation of the non nuclear proliferation agreements between the United States and the Soviet Union for the soviets to aid Iran with its nuclear "energy" program by supplying Iran with uranium?

the reason i ask these questions is because i believe the United States isnt in aposition to eal with a country like Iran, if Iran gets anykind of fissionable materials from anywhere. the balance of power that we all knew really does not exist anymore and as a result i feel that United States is extremely vulnerable. this nation, now, more than ever, needs something to balance things out. i believe that if the lance still existed, foreign nations like Iraq and the Soviet Union would be much less likely to start world war 3.

The Lance system was already way out of date when they anted up with in that last round of treaties. The Navy with their long range precision guided nukes pretty much made Lance and Pershing a thing of the past. Those last few years we were in Germany we were just bargaining chips. You would have thought that it would have been great to send lance to Desert Storm jsut to get rid of the HE warhead stock, but we were too valuable a bargaining chip.

I don't think Lamce will ever be brought back to aid any country. The Lance was so far out of date. Can you imagine an SPL hitting a land mine in Iraq with a Lance missile on it. We would lose a lot of people and launchers if it set the missile off. Remember that they are using cell phones to set off these land mines and the signal could also set off the missile. Not likely that they would want to jeopardize the lives of the soldiers like that.
