I was stationed at the Fliegerhorst Kaserne, Hanua Germany from '88 to '92. I was in the Assembly and Transport Section of C-Btry, 1stBn 32nd FA, home of the "Proud Americans". The trips to Crete were real memory makers to say the least. I'm doing great and loving life. I got out in '92 to pursue a career at sea.

I loved Crete. Got to go for two weeks except the last week our entire section (missile maintenance) was restricted to post. I remember Namfi had an outdoor movie theater. I remember the terrible food in their mess hall. We would throw away the box lunches they gave us and the Greek soldiers would go through the garbage to get them.

I too remember the outdoor theater. When a funny scene would arise in the movie we Americans would laugh. The Greeks would look at us weird, read the caption (in greek) and then they would laugh. This of course caused us to laugh again. Most of the food in the mess hall was atrocious, but it all paled in comparison to the in-flight goat burgers for the flight back to Frankurt. I do not miss the Ouzo. I do miss the mostly topless beaches though. Gee, where did I put that sun tan oil?

Do you guys remember the famous "steak" place up the road from NAMFI known only as "pop's". We knew one thing for sure, that "steak" was not beef!!...but he had the BEST Ouzo!!

Bravo Battery went down to Crete 04/84. I was in the 1st A&T, a brand new 'cruit. That rocket fuel and ouzo were too hot. We went on a battery tour around parts of the island. We went to one beach called Matala, and in the sides of the cliffs there were tombs where the titans were supposedly buried. Does anyone have any photos of the Lance launch? I have some from the observatory up on the hill, but only with a Kodak instamatic. Also have Chinook transport of the Lance from 07/85 before I ETS'd.

I was stationed at Fliegerhorst from 1976 - 1978. Before that we were at Hutier Kaserne in Hanua. I went to Crete 3 times and really enjoyed the trip each time. Made me grateful to be American.

I was in A Btry - Assembly & Transport for my whole tour. I worked with Kevin Backer, Ray Stone, Bill Weber. Lt. Lee and Cpt. Morrison were there so was Lt. Carroll. Also SSgt. Battle and Nunez, SSgt. Esker.

My time in Germany was just long enough. Made a big mistake when I joined the Army - made the best of it and then got out. Still think of Germany once in awhile - seems like it much less these days than before.

I served with the 1/32nd way back in 1981 through 1983. I was with Alpha Battery FDC, so as an FDC guy I never got to go on the greece trips dang-it! Great times in Germany though. I remember Billy and Jeff Kline (both from Pennsylvania like me), Sergent Lyons, Hagen, Sergent Oliver, Clyde, and many more faces but the names are getting foggy.

After getting out I went on to get a degree at Penn State, and now I'm in Washington DC doing civil service stuff. Anybody that was at the 1/32 between 1981 and 1983 I would be real interested in hearing from.

I was in B Btry, 2nd Launcher. Mar 75 to Oct 76. Lots of Binding beer and hash. I remember the "Health and Welfare" inspections. Just another way of looking for your stash. One of these days I'll tell my kids that they haven't done anything that I already did. I haven't stayed in touch with a lot of people. I wonder how everyone of my party buddies are doing.

Hey Trujillo! Yes, I remember too. I don't think Sgt. Mackey liked that worm pit too much. You know this one. What was the name of the TAMMS clerk? I'd like to say hi to her. And what was the name of the mail clerk? I think she was from trinadad. What was the name of the guy that fell asleep and drove the FDC track over a car? I remember having to translate Sgt.hernandez for the newbies, " if jou screw up jou going to be work chatterdays and chundays"! Anybody got ssgt. gurrero's (misspelled?) shiskaba marianade recipe? If anybody is looking for 32 FA unit crests, Ft.Sill clothing sales still carries them because 6/32 is stationed there. As for myself I ended up being an Avionics tech. I'm working on 747's.

I was in Flieferhorst from '83-'85. I went to Crete in '84! It was a blast! I went down with the advance party and then was there when Charlie Bty came down. The wk "C" was there, I was across the hall from 1st Sgt Saenz. Woke up one morning and heard him hollaring "Medic! Alkaseltzer!" Lucky for me I knew my troops and had it for him!! LOL I believe I treated more people for hangovers and the injuries from those damn DITCH MONSTERS than any real medical problems! Anyone remember the PINK FISH HOUSE? The food sure was good, but don't go in the kitchen! One of the dirtiest I'd ever seen----maybe that is what made the food so good! Baird mentioned a Lt Cash----would that have been Lt Carolann Cash??? She is in Tx now. I still hear from her on occassion. Also hear from Spc Blevins, who worked in the mail room. Spc Crane (better known as the HQ battery drunk) I spoke with just a couple of nights ago. Still the same old Crane! Crete references have caused me to want to go dig out the old photos and relive some of those old times. Johansson (C Btry) gave me this site address when I spoke with him this morning and I sure have had fun with it. Thanks to whoever set it up. Sending the link along to Blevins who recently got a computer and has Email now. Also to SSG Skogen (who I have an old email address for, but haven't heard from in months!) Look forward to hearing from some people.
