I was just surfing, looking for old Army buddies when I found your site. Really nice to visit memory lane. I was in Montabour West Germany 1989-1991 if anyone cares.

You are one of the few that got to experience the quaint little town of Montabaur. I was there from 1979 to 1982. That was my first duty assignment. Had a blast.

Have you had any luck finding guys from your time there? I tried searches and google all night and couldn't find hardly anything. Montabaur was really cool. I got my drivers licence the first week over there and got to drive the autobaun to Weisbaden each week.

No I haven't found any on here yet. I know that Travis Bennett was there but he was there later on in the 80's. There was a disco that had just opened when I was there. It was on the other side of town from the kaserne. Do you know if it is still there?

Travis Bennett

Disco is dead Ken, LET IT GO!!!!!

It was there when we were there in 1990. It had 3 bars in it. It was no longer disco but Retro Dance or whatever you call it. We got in a couple fights there. My roommate "Peabody" was a skateboard kid from ST. Lewis MO. On New Years night he stole a rocket (fireworks) from the display set up and lit it and threw it in the bathroom. Tons of Smoke and a loud bang and red lights everywhere. Nobody got hurt but "Peabody" when 20 angry drunk guys came running out of the bathroom. Oh those were the days. Army guys didn't cause any trouble in the 80's did they?

I was the only one to wear a cowboy hat in the place and I got the DJ to play country music for me. the Germans actually liked the country music. Had a few fights in there myself. Boy those were the good old days.

Yeah, the Army is certainly a melting pot of all cultures coming together to achieve one goal. I met every demographic imaginable in there. It's nice to see people from other parts of the world and find out about how they grew up in areas completely foreign to us. The crazy thing is foreign may be a city 1000 miles away here in our own country. What do you do now? Did your military works help you in your current employment?
