Anybody out there who joined and served in 6/33FA in late 1975-1976 when it stood up. The first Battalion Commander would have been LTC H. Baumiester, Cpt Brown had B Btry, Cpt Norman Lebreque had Service Battery, Cpt Benoit had C Battery............

I arrived at 6/33FA Btry B about 04/1977 and remember a lot of officer and cadre. Lite Col. Baoumiester (what a german accent that man had) was still in command of the Battalion at the time. Cpt Brown was replaced but Lebreque and Benoit where still in the unit.

Thank you for the reply, do you recall a 1/LT Alvin Chennault in Bravo Battery? Do you remember LTC Hartmuth Guenther who assumed command after LTC.Baumeister?

You know, it's LTC Guenther I remember not Maoumiester. I think the transition between the two happened right around the time I arrived. Guenther was the one with the heavy german accent. Yes Chennault, I remember him quite clearly. I was in Charlie Battery Not Bravo (2nd Floor, 2nd barracks). It was my first Permanent Party Station. Bravo was upstairs, third level if my memory will serve me correctly?!

Bob Molan, Ted Morris, Mike Northern. Any of these names ring a bell with you?

I came across LTC Guenther again 6 years later when I was stationed in Heidelberg starting my second tour in Germany. Chenault was promoted to Captain and took over a WarHead Detachment with the Brits in the BAOR sector up north. He is now working for a life insurance company in North Carolina. I see him when the "moon turns blue".

The 3 names don't ring a bell, however if I saw them I would probably remember, it is to bad the battalion never produced a battalion photograph with everyone in it.

Since you were in Charlie Battery you were with Captain Benoit.

anyone from the mid eighties..Service battery?

Supported ya'll during that time. CW Gee and CW Cabell were there. I was out of the 133 ord at the 100 S&S Battalion.

Went TDY to WSMR a couple of times with your unit and Ft chafee.

Terrance,
The holiday jogged some of my memory. Captain Edwards was the CO of Charlie Battery. Lieutenant Chritfield is also a name I remember.

Now those are a couple of names I haven't heard in awhile!!! Do you recall CPT Pyett of Headquarters Battery, I remember him, he would fall out of PT formation on battalion runs, but his successor, whose name I cannot recall could run like an antelope.

Yes CPT Pyett. Average height, fair skin, freckles, strawberry blonde hair. A bit of a woose as I remember? His cadre and peers seemed to shy away. Bit of a clinger?

I don't know what you mean when you say "WHEN IT STOOD UP". I was in Charlie 6/33 from 79 until 80 until I got orders to Germany. We had a 1st sgt that was a cav.soldier, his name was Broam. He had that place squared away! Every one remembers a good team they were on,but trust me you were replaced with good soldiers.

Glitch???

Hello Scott, Thank you for the reply, the term "stood up" means activation, that phase prior to the battalion certification with the FORSCOM and Department of the Army TPI Inspections. The Batttalion was a crack outfit, the enlisted troopers were highly motivated, with hard charging non-commissioned officers with a strong sense of unit pride and esprit, it was the best battalion in the 9th Field Artillery Missile Group, bar none. I am glad that the traditions were carried on, with great "Redlegs" such as yourself. Best Regards! BTW - I came across a couple of years ago in Germany, when I was working Arms Control, the Colonel who took the battalion through its transition from Lance to MRLS.
